  • $20 provides life-saving outreach supplies for 66 people.

  • HIV/AIDS medications can cost $28 a pill. The whole bottle can cost $750! One medication can cost $9,000 a year.

  • Our clients take an average of 8 medications, which can total $40,000 annually.

  • $5 provides round-trip transportation for someone living with HIV/AIDS to see their doctor.

  • $10 provides school supplies to a child.

  • $80 provides food for 2 families every month.

  • $85 provides confidential testing for HIV and Hep C

    Monterey County Weekly donated $100,000 to Community Non-Profits  
    Money really does grow-- if not on trees,
in the capable hands of the local Community Foundation.		  
   
 
When Weekly CEO Bradley Zeve first planted the seed of this year’s Community Fund initiative, Community Foundation for Monterey County President and CEO Todd Lueders guessed it might raise about $70,000.

“I’m glad I didn’t bet the farm on it,” he says. “I was way, way too conservative on that number.”

Readers dug deep; 1,609 people ponied up $429,336.85.
