    Volunteer

Volunteers are the backbone of CCHAS and help to provide needed services to the HIV/AIDS community with minimal staffing, which maximizes resources for client services. Each year, over 10,000 hours of time, talent, and energy are contributed to the HIV community.

To volunteer at CCHAS, or one of the many events, contact [email protected].

    Special Event Involvement
Central Coast HIV/AIDS Services hosts a myriad of events each year that are only possible with the help of dedicated volunteers.

Big Sur International Marathon/Half Marathon: Held each year in April and November, respectively, we host a water and Gatorade aid station along the race course. This is a great opportunity to help hydrate the runners and experience the beauty of the sunrise and legendary Central California coastline.

World AIDS Day Events:  Join our team on December 1st in Monterey, Marina and Salinas to help spread the word to our friends and community through outreach efforts on this honorable day.

Children's Gift Drive:  Each year, there are many children either infected with HIV or that have parents infected by HIV/AIDS that count on us for a joyful Christmas morning. You are invited to donate toys and wrapping paper or your time to help wrap gifts.

We are seeking Volunteers for the following:

Gardening/Landscaping at our Seaside location (Possibly start and manage a Gardening Club)

Posting and distributing flyers in various areas around the Monterey Peninsula & Salinas

   Board of Directors

Board members of CCHAS are our links with the community and, as such, are essential and important volunteers. A commitment to serve on the Board carries with it certain expectations, both formal and informal. CCHAS' commitment is to make Board service rewarding and enjoyable, and to help exercise each individual's special skills and talents on behalf of the organizations mission. For additional information about Board service, please contact Jeri Ann Shapiro/Chairperson at [email protected].

"I really enjoy the communication and contact I have with clients. Even tasks that might appear to be small can make big differences in people's lives. I love volunteering here".

     -Dottie, Volunteer

"Your kindness and sympathy at this time of sorrow has been greatly appreciated by our family. Your assistance with funeral expenses has helped tremendously in the hardest times of grief in the burial of our beloved brother. During this time of sorrow, we learn how much our friends really mean to us".

     -Regina,
Emotional/End-of-Life Program Participant

"I would like to tell you how grateful I am for the help you have given me. We are a family of six. My household income hardly allows us to meet our monthly payments with nothing left over. Thanks to you, my kids get Christmas presents every year and my husband and I have access to the medications that we need to take. Thank you very much for your help".

     -Guadalupe, Client

"I was tested two years ago and found out that I was HIV positive. Life has been a rollercoaster ever since. Your agency has shown me that I can keep living with HIV. If it was not for this agency, I may have never found out that I was HIV positive, and many other people could have been infected".
